- Is this the right time to pursue this goal?
- Does this goal match my other efforts or needs?
- Am I the right person to accomplish this goal?
Time-bound
Every goal needs a target date, so you have a deadline to focus on and something to work toward. This part of the SMART goal criteria helps to prevent everyday tasks from taking priority over your longer-term goals.
A time-bound goal answers questions such as:
- What is my deadline for achieving this goal?
- What can I do today to start working toward this goal?
- What milestones can I set to ensure I stay on track?
- What can I do in the next six weeks or six months?
- How will I stay focused and motivated over time?
